Licence checks
Check the person and the pharmacy separately
Get the names before looking for badges. Keep a note of who will assess you and who will prepare or send the medicine.
Look up the person providing care
State medical boards publish doctors’ licence records and public disciplinary information; the detail available varies by state.
The medical boards’ federation keeps a directory of state boards for looking up doctors.
Request a full name and licence number for the person assessing you. Check both against the board’s record.
A record without public discipline does not establish how good the care will be.
Then identify the pharmacy
Pharmacy licensing has its own state boards, and the FDA provides links to their licence searches.
The September 2026 record says that a pharmacy shipping across state lines usually also needs the receiving state’s licence or permit.
Get the dispensing pharmacy’s full name, then search that name in the state board’s record.
